The producers of “Stranger Things: First Shadow” announced Tuesday that the Tony-winning stage production will end its Broadway run on Jan. 3, 2027, at the Marquis Theatre, and its West End run on Dec. 26, 2026, at the Phoenix Theatre.

The play, based on the Netflix science-fiction horror series, has been a critical and commercial success since its Broadway premiere. It won the Tony Award for Best New Play and the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play.

Co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer said in a joint statement that the idea for a stage adaptation came from director Stephen Daldry. “We were stunned — both by the fact that Stephen wanted to do this, and that he believed it could work. And boy, did it work,” they said.

The Duffers praised the creative team, including writer Kate Trefry and director Justin Martin, for creating “cinematic theater unlike anything else out there.” They added that the production drew audiences from around the world, “a majority of whom had never even been to a Broadway show before.”

They also thanked the cast, including Tony-nominated actor Louis McCartney, and the fans for making the performances memorable.
