  • The All Things Possible ministry, founded by Colorado Republican gubernatorial nominee Victor Marx, funded sheriff's detective positions and surveillance equipment in two Florida counties through private donations outside normal procurement processes, according to memorandums of understanding obtained by the Guardian.
  • The MOUs name the Protecting Children's Innocence Task Force as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit; ministry chief executive Chaz Yandall told the newspaper the taskforce has no separate employer identification number and is not a distinct legal entity.

  • The Maine Supreme Judicial Court ruled Sept. 1 that a Portland District Court judge was correct in giving Matthew Bradeen the authority to decide whether his daughter could attend an evangelical church.
  • The ruling upholds a 2024 lower-court decision in a dispute between Bradeen and Emily Bickford, the girl's mother, over the religious upbringing of their then-11-year-old daughter.
  • Bickford had been bringing her daughter to multiple services a week at Calvary Chapel Greater Portland, an evangelical church in Westbrook.
  • Bradeen argued the church was a "dangerous and harmful environment" and said his daughter suffered a panic attack after hearing the church's teachings on the rapture.
