HBO confirmed Wednesday that Edgar Ramirez, 49, will join the cast of Season 2 of the crime drama “Task.” Created by Brad Ingelsby (“Mare of Easttown”), “Task” stars Mark Ruffalo as FBI agent Tom Brandis, who leads a task force investigating a series of armed robberies in the first season.
Mahershala Ali was previously announced to join Season 2 as Eddie Barnes, a DEA agent whose team clashes with Brandis. Other new cast members include Harry Melling and Adam Nagaitis as DEA agents Brennan Boylan and Luke Clemmons, and Aminah Nieves as FBI agent and young mother Nataly Zamora.
Ramirez is known for his roles as Carlos the Jackal in “Carlos” and Gianni Versace in “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.” HBO has not yet announced a premiere date for the second season.
