A Missouri man who spotted his favorite scratch-off lottery game at a gas station on a recent trip won $100,000, state lottery officials said Wednesday.

The Cass County man said he had not seen the 24K Gold scratch-off ticket in a while when he walked into the store. “I hadn’t seen it in a while, so when I was in the gas station, I saw that yellow and said, ‘Ooh, 24K Gold,’” the player told Missouri Lottery officials.

He purchased the ticket from Raymore Smokes & Liquor on South Madison Avenue in Raymore. The ticket delivered a $100,000 prize, far surpassing his previous biggest win of $1,000.

“The most I’ve ever won was $1,000, so it was a little bit of a shock,” the winner said.

The winner said his prize money will go toward new household appliances and enjoying his retirement.
