SEOUL, South Korea (MSI) — Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation launched a cybersecurity working group Wednesday under the Trilateral Executive Dialogue, a policy forum that brings together political and business leaders from South Korea, the United States and Japan.

The working group is the first topic-specific subgroup created since the dialogue’s establishment. The forum explores opportunities for cooperation on democracy, shared prosperity, economic development, and national security.

The group held its inaugural seminar at Hyundai Motor Group headquarters in southern Seoul. Companies from different countries and industries participated, along with professors from leading South Korean universities.

“As global supply chains become more interconnected, cybersecurity responses that cross national borders are essential,” a Hyundai Motor Group official said.

Participants discussed recent cybersecurity developments, corporate response strategies, and security challenges arising in the artificial intelligence era, according to the automakers. The group was formed to support coordinated responses to global cyber threats.

Participating companies plan to regularly share information on emerging security trends, operational experience, and industry best practices, the automakers said.

The launch comes as cyberattacks have become more frequent and complex, with the boundary between digital and physical infrastructure increasingly blurred. The widespread adoption of artificial intelligence and internet-connected devices has increased the risk that an attack against one company could spread to others linked through global supply chains.
