Satellite imagery reveals dozens of U.S.-owned properties destroyed since April
The Wall Street Journal’s investigation combined satellite imagery and on-the-ground video to document the destruction of dozens of American-owned homes in southern Lebanon since April, the outlet reported. The analysis centered on the town of Bint Jbeil, which Israeli forces occupied.
Dearborn and neighboring Dearborn Heights in Michigan are home to the largest Lebanese-American population in the United States, according to the Journal. Many of those families have roots in Bint Jbeil and own property there.
Danielle Elzayat, a Lebanese-American living in Michigan, described to the Journal how she made it a daily ritual to check satellite images circulated by neighbors and family for the house her father built. The Journal reported that one day she found only rubble.
The video investigation was produced by Belle Cushing, a senior video journalist on the enterprise video team for the Journal. The Journal’s analysis showed that dozens of homes owned by Americans have been destroyed by Israeli forces since April.
