Norman vows to nuke the filibuster in push for Senate seat

Rep. Ralph Norman announced Saturday he will run for the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham, entering the race even after President Donald Trump endorsed Graham’s sister, Darline, for the position.

Norman, a Republican House member from South Carolina, vowed to nuke the filibuster as part of his campaign platform, according to Fox News.

Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday that Darline Graham “has been a WINNER all of her life” and has his “Complete and Total Endorsement.” He urged her to run: “RUN, DARLINE, RUN!” Graham, appointed by Gov. Henry McMaster and sworn in Tuesday to fill her late brother’s seat on an interim basis, has expressed interest in running for the full six-year term but has not officially announced her candidacy.

The special GOP primary is scheduled for Aug. 11, with a runoff on Aug. 25 if needed. Democrat Annie Andrews will face the Republican nominee in the November midterm election.
