CDC says nearly 7,000 may have Cyclospora parasite infection

BBC interviews DC shoppers on outbreak response

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said nearly 7,000 people in the United States may have been infected with cyclosporiasis, the agency said in an estimate reported Monday by the BBC.

The BBC asked shoppers in Washington D.C. what they know of the Cyclospora parasite and how they are adjusting their eating habits because of it, according to a video segment produced by Madeline Gerber.

The CDC’s estimate was published in a segment titled “US shoppers react to mysterious ‘explosive diarrhoea’ parasite.”
