Hong Kong Observatory: landfall expected Sunday near Huizhou
Typhoon Noul, packing sustained winds of 145 kilometers per hour (90 mph), was moving across the South China Sea on Saturday, the Hong Kong Observatory said. The storm prompted the evacuation of thousands of people in Guangdong province and the cancellation of dozens of flights in Hong Kong.
The observatory said Noul was expected to make landfall early Sunday near the cities of Huizhou and Shanwei on the coast of Guangdong, then push inland, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to parts of the region.
