Forecasts show rough seas from storm off Mexican coast
Tropical Storm Genevieve strengthened into a hurricane Saturday in the Pacific Ocean southwest of Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center. Forecasters expected it to pick up even more steam and become a major hurricane in the coming days but said it would stay well out to sea on a path that posed no direct threat to land.
No coastal watches or warnings were in effect as of Saturday, and the hurricane center said the storm posed no threats to land at this time. Forecasts showed the storm stirring up rough seas across open waters of the eastern Pacific as it continued its westward path.
