Autopsies confirm gunshot wounds for all eight family members
The bodies of Kristopher Karolkiewicz, his wife Amanda Karolkiewicz, and their six children, ages 5 to 15, were found Friday after firefighters responded to a blaze at their home in Grand Haven Township, a community on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan.
Autopsies determined that all eight died of gunshot wounds, and that Kristopher Karolkiewicz died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a release from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department on Monday.
“The investigation shows that this was a murder-suicide,” Capt. Jacob Sparks wrote in the release.
Authorities were called to a fire at the home Friday and discovered the bodies after responding to the blaze, the sheriff’s department said.
