First new initiative in more than a decade aims at state policy
The Clinton Foundation on Monday announced the creation of the Clinton Policy Institute, a new program designed to help state and local governments develop and enact nonpartisan policy solutions, according to the organization.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said in a statement to The Associated Press that rising costs, economic uncertainty, rapid technological change, and growing pressures on public institutions are making it harder for families to get ahead.
“We created CPI because we believe there are still practical, evidence-based solutions that can improve people’s lives,” Clinton said.
The institute is the first new initiative launched by the Clinton Foundation in more than ten years. It has already begun convening political leaders from both parties, research experts, and Americans directly affected by the issues being studied, with the aim of creating new approaches to persistent problems.
The Clinton Policy Institute will focus on improving health outcomes, especially for women and children, as well as economic security and democracy. The initiative is intended to be nonpartisan, drawing on leaders from both the Democratic and Republican parties.
