Sandoz agrees to pay $478.5 million in two U.S. generic-pricing settlements

Remaining claims limited to individual opt-out plaintiffs

Sandoz Group, the Swiss maker of generic drugs, said Monday it reached two settlements to resolve U.S. antitrust litigation over generic-drug pricing. The agreements leave only claims from individual plaintiffs who opted out of class settlements as remaining in the litigation. Neither settlement contains an admission of wrongdoing, the company said.

Sandoz agreed to pay $28.5 million to resolve all remaining class-action claims brought by indirect reseller plaintiffs related to the pricing matter.

Under the larger agreement, Sandoz will pay $400 million over seven years starting in 2027 to a consortium of 43 U.S. states and territories, resolving all remaining claims against Sandoz US in three pending cases. The company also agreed to pay about $50 million to states that had settled earlier in the litigation.

Sandoz said it increased an existing provision to reflect the settlements and that they have no impact on its guidance for this year or the medium term.
