Move follows FCC drone import ban, US forced-labor listing of 43 companies
China’s Commerce Ministry announced Wednesday that it is adding export controls on drones to the United States and prohibiting dealings with six American companies, saying the measures respond to recent restrictions imposed by Washington.
The ministry cited a U.S. Federal Communications Commission ban on imports of Chinese drones and the Department of Homeland Security’s addition of 43 Chinese companies to the entity list under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, a U.S. law intended to prevent imports of goods produced with forced labor.
The announcement follows the May summit in Beijing between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump, which took place amid signs of warming ties between the two countries.
