Suspect told agents he was there for a security detail, authorities say
Jeanine John Taele, 38, was taken into custody Sunday at President Donald Trump’s Los Angeles-area golf club after federal authorities said he told agents he had a loaded weapon in his vehicle and had been posing as a State Department employee.
Taele was first observed on the grounds of Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes on Friday, wearing an earpiece and taking photos and videos of federal agents as they conducted a security assessment of the property, according to federal authorities.
On Sunday, Taele approached the agents and identified himself as a U.S. State Department employee who was there for a security detail, authorities said. He told the agents he had a loaded weapon in his vehicle.
During the arrest, authorities found a 16-round magazine containing ammunition in Taele’s pocket. He was charged with a federal weapons offense and was expected to appear in federal court, officials said.
