Parents: Annelise ‘is now with Jesus’; Houston service set for Wednesday
Annelise Camp, the 2-year-old at the center of a brain-death dispute at a Texas hospital, has died, her family said this week. The girl drowned in a hotel pool on Memorial Day.
Her parents, Johnston and Joy Camp, had sued the hospital to prevent it from testing Annelise for brain death. Weeks before her death, a judge granted the family a temporary injunction in their favor.
The family had long said Annelise still showed signs of life and wanted more time for her to recover and explore treatment.
In a statement, Johnston and Joy Camp said Annelise “is now with Jesus.”
“While our hearts are broken, we trust in His perfect love, His faithfulness, and His promises,” they said.
Breathing tubes were removed from Annelise on Monday, her grandfather, Steve Camp, posted online. “When this procedure was done, she passed very quickly,” he wrote.
A church service for Annelise is scheduled for next Wednesday in Houston. The Texas Right to Life organization supported the family’s case.
