Trump spent more time on grass than Iran war at some events
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump was talking about grass again Monday, telling military spouses at a White House event that “Grass is like humans. It has a life.”
The remark continues a pattern that has run through his second term. Trump has spoken repeatedly about green lawns since returning to the White House, according to the Associated Press, which reported that at some events he has spent more time on grass than on the war in Iran, the economy or November’s midterm elections.
The subject was on his mind early in the term. Five weeks after his second inauguration, during an interview with The Spectator, Trump pointed out the Oval Office window and asked, “You see the grass outside, right?” He then described plans to pave over much of the lawn, saying, “Some people would like to leave it. But the problem is, you can’t.”
Trump has kept on the topic constantly since then, the Associated Press reported, with Monday’s remark to military spouses the latest instance.
