Class action seeks compensation and logo-removal costs for owners
Two Mercedes AMG drivers have filed a class action lawsuit against the luxury car company, alleging that the AMG logo on the driver’s seat gets so hot that it brands occupants and causes burns.
Gabriel Lahijani and Karendeep “Karina” Bath filed the complaint earlier this week in the U.S. District Court of California’s Western division, according to the court document. The lawsuit alleges a design defect in the front seats of certain Mercedes AMG vehicles, asserting that the raised metallic AMG logo is “reasonably expected to contact an occupant’s upper back, neck, or shoulder.”
The plaintiffs are seeking compensation for any medical expenses, as well as pain, suffering, and emotional distress they can prove at trial. The complaint also asks the court to require Mercedes to pay for other owners to have the logo removed from their cars.
Mercedes-Benz could not be reached immediately for comment. The case was brought as a class action on behalf of other drivers of the affected vehicles.
