Investors press Anthropic on Chinese rivals, data-center opposition
Anthropic is meeting with potential investors to shore up confidence ahead of a planned initial public offering that could launch in September or early October, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal published Aug. 10.
Investors have pressed the company on a series of challenges as it prepares for the listing, the Journal reported. Those challenges include cheaper Chinese AI systems, tensions with the Trump administration and opposition to data centers, the newspaper said.
Anthropic told some investors it plans to push further into healthcare and biology, according to the Journal.
The Journal described the planned offering as a blockbuster IPO. The report was updated Aug. 10 at 9:29 p.m. ET and was written by Berber Jin, who covers startups and venture capital for the Journal out of its San Francisco office.
