Transporter program carries multiple satellite customers on single rocket
The contract places VinSpace’s first satellites aboard SpaceX’s Transporter program, a rideshare service that groups multiple satellite customers on a single launch vehicle to share launch costs. SpaceX’s rideshare operations are run by Elon Musk’s company, the AP reported. The 2027 mission will mark VinSpace’s first entry into orbit.
VinSpace will both develop and operate the satellites, the company said in a statement. The satellites are intended to test the company’s technology in orbit and support future commercial applications.
VinSpace was established in November 2025 and operates under Vietnam’s Vingroup conglomerate. Vingroup, the largest privately owned company in the country, was founded by Pham Nhat Vuong, whom the AP described as a tycoon. The conglomerate’s portfolio spans real estate, retail, healthcare, education and tourism.
In April, VinSpace had already signaled its 2027 launch ambitions, saying it planned to develop and launch its first satellites that year.
The deal comes as Vietnam, a Southeast Asian nation, moves to develop its space industry.
