CPSC cites 19 fire reports in recall of 250,000 Cooluli minifridges

Recalled units sold on Cooluli and Amazon for $80 to $120

Cooluli has recalled approximately 250,000 of its minifridges after reports of overheating, sparking and fire linked to an electric switch, according to a notice published Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall covers certain models of the company’s 10-liter and 15-liter minifridges equipped with an internal power supply.

According to the CPSC notice, the recalled minifridges contain an electric switch that can short circuit, creating fire and burn hazards for consumers.

“On some older units, the selector switch that toggles between Cooling and Warming modes can overheat,” Cooluli said on its website.

According to the commission, Cooluli has received at least 19 reports involving the recalled units. The reports describe incidents of the minifridges smoking, sparking, burning, melting, overheating or catching fire, according to the CPSC.

Property damages from those incidents have totaled more than $80,000, the commission said, and one consumer reported smoke inhalation.

The recalled minifridges were sold between January 2019 and October 2024 on Cooluli’s website and on Amazon, the commission said, at prices ranging from $80 to $120.

The recall applies only to certain 10-liter and 15-liter models with internal power supplies, the CPSC said, and does not extend to other Cooluli minifridges in the company’s catalog.
