Many communities are trying to block new data center construction
According to the September 7, 2026, NPR report by Andrea Hsu, titled “Union electricians welcome data center boom,” the surge in data center construction has brought “plenty of work and lots of overtime” to union electricians. The same construction projects have placed those workers at odds with many communities “trying to block new data center construction.”
