Crash comes a day after Miami cargo plane killed five
A Mooney M20F four-seater propeller plane crashed near Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, Florida, on Monday, the National Transportation Safety Board said. Video of the incident showed a fiery crash on a road that Titusville police closed on both sides.
The NTSB, the agency investigating the case, identified the aircraft as a Mooney M20F, officials said. The incident occurred around 10:00 EST (15:00 BST), according to local police, off Florida’s east coast about 40 miles (64 km) due east of Orlando.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone had been injured in the Titusville crash. The Titusville Police Department said Florida Power and Light cut power in nearby areas as a precaution.
The Titusville crash came less than 24 hours after an Amazon cargo plane overshot the runway at Miami International Airport. That aircraft, a Boeing 767-300, plowed across a road beyond the runway and struck several vehicles on the ground, killing five people and seriously injuring five others, according to BBC reporting.
