Mayor urges shelter in place as orange haze visible over area
LA HABRA, Calif. — Authorities in Southern California contained a slow leak from a chemical tank in La Habra on Tuesday, though the substance and the leak’s origin remained unknown, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Fire department spokesperson Kaitlyn Aldana said three people at the scene declined transport to a hospital.
La Habra Mayor Jose Medrano urged residents to shelter in place and said some streets were being evacuated.
Photos posted to social media showed what appeared to be an orange haze or mist in the sky over the area.
