Fox and Roku commit to cooperating with Justice Department review
The Justice Department has asked both companies for additional information and documentary material as they work to complete the acquisition, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday. The transaction is valued at roughly $25 billion, according to the report.
Fox and Roku said they would work cooperatively with the department, provide the requested information and materials, and continue to expect the deal to close in the first half of 2027.
Fox said in June that it would acquire Roku. The proposed combination would pair Fox’s live news and sports programming with Roku’s position as the biggest provider of streaming platforms for connected TVs.
The deal would be Fox’s largest to date. It would also add scale to the media company’s streaming business, which is currently home to the free, ad-supported service Tubi and the subscription-based services Fox One and Fox Nation.
The report also disclosed that Fox and News Corp., the parent company of The Wall Street Journal, share common ownership.
The companies’ stated closing timetable remains the first half of 2027. Fox and Roku repeated that expectation after saying they would provide the requested material to the Justice Department.
