Decision appears to set stage for use of old maps
The US Supreme Court on Thursday again rejected a push backed by Donald Trump to overhaul Missouri’s congressional maps ahead of November’s midterm elections. The Guardian described the proposed overhaul as a bid to give Republicans an edge.
The court granted a request by challengers of the proposed maps to suspend a decision by a US federal judge. That decision had allowed only the reconfigured boundaries to be used in the November 3 elections.
The Supreme Court’s latest ruling followed days of confusion after conflicting decisions. The Guardian reported that the action appears to set the stage for Missouri to use its old electoral maps this year.
