Warner Bros. Discovery stock up 0.03% in Journal coverage

The Wall Street Journal published a video feature on Monday framing Warner Bros. as having moved from “the hottest studio in Hollywood” to “another victim of the streaming wars,” hosted by entertainment industry reporter Ben Fritz. Warner Bros. Discovery’s stock was up 0.03% in the Journal’s coverage of the pending Paramount takeover.

The video, titled “Why Hollywood’s Most Iconic Studio Is Being Sold—Again,” traces how the studio reached the point of being taken over by Paramount. When the deal closes this week, the studio will get a new owner for the third time in a decade.

Fritz covers the entertainment industry from The Wall Street Journal’s Los Angeles bureau. He was previously the Journal’s artificial intelligence editor and its West Coast U.S. News editor. Before joining the Journal in 2013, Fritz covered Hollywood for the Los Angeles Times and Variety.

Fritz reported and hosted the Journal podcast miniseries “With Great Power: The Rise of Superhero Cinema” and is the author of the bestselling books “The Big Picture: The Fight for the Future of Movies” and “All the President’s Spin.” He has won awards from the Los Angeles Press Club and the Society for Advanced Business Editing and Writing, and has edited coverage that won awards from the National Association of Black Journalists and the New York Press Club.
