Nvidia remains only other company to close above threshold
Apple became the second company to close above the $5 trillion mark on October 14, 2026, ending the trading day at $5.005 trillion, according to Dow Jones Market Data. Nvidia is the only other publicly traded company to occupy that territory at the close.
Intraday and closing valuations can diverge: a stock may briefly trade above a threshold during the session but pull back before the 4 p.m. ET close. Apple’s market capitalization had crossed $5 trillion six times previously during intraday trading but had never closed above the level, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
The Wall Street Journal described the closing milestone as “a capstone on the Tim Cook era” and “an implicit challenge to new chief executive John Ternus.”
