I did everything they told us to do. I work part-time at Walmart. I keep my kids fed. My mom is getting older and she needs help. And now the Supreme Court just told a bunch of Haitians who have been caring for her neighbors’ grandmothers that they have to pack up.

That’s the deal.

Trump’s crew ran on ‘America First.’ They said they were protecting American jobs. They said they were putting families first. What they delivered: kicking out caregivers who bathe, feed, and toilet American grandmothers in nursing homes across south Florida, Massachusetts, and New York. Haitians are seven percent of the long-term care workforce. Immigrants overall are thirty percent. One in six workers in the country, but damn near a third of the people wiping bottoms and changing sheets and turning patients so they don’t develop bedsores.

You know who picks up the slack when they leave? Nobody. Home care already bleeds seventy to eighty percent of new hires in three months because the pay is shit and the work breaks your back. Now you add ten thousand more experienced people to the ‘gone’ column and tell the facilities to make it work.

You can’t raise prices either — Medicaid and Medicare Advantage reimburse at fixed rates. So facilities cut staff, staff cut corners, the elderly get infections and lonely goddamn deaths. That’s not a projection. That’s what staffing shortages do to old people.

The House passed a Haiti TPS extension in April. The Senate hasn’t moved. They had a vote to keep the caregivers. They chose to kick them out instead.

JD Vance is married to an immigrant. Donald Trump is married to an immigrant. Half the damn cabinet is. But the Haitian woman feeding your grandfather at 2 a.m. has to go, because some grievance-drunk bastard in a red hat needed a scapegoat more than he needed his own mother cared for.

Family values, my ass. A value you refuse to fund is a slogan with a tie on. They deported the hands that didn’t shake and called it patriotism. Go to hell, you cowardly fucking frauds.
