The GOP sold the Rust Belt on tariff-fueled patriotism, then watched 75,000 manufacturing jobs vanish while capital fled to Silicon Valley.

I listened to the rallies where they swore the tariffs were gonna bring the plants back to Johnstown and Lordstown. They told us punishing China was the magic trick that would rebuild the Rust Belt. We bought the flag-waving. We bought the Trump-era promises.

Absolute bullshit.

The Republican party didn’t have a plan to rebuild a goddamn thing. They just had a plan to tax the parts we buy and pocket the spectacle. While they were in D.C. high-fiving over trade wars, manufacturing jobs hemorrhaged 75,000 gigs since January 2025 alone. Seventy-five thousand. You handed the heartland to the elephant-branded cowards, and they drove the factory straight into a ditch while screaming about patriotism.

Where did the money go? Not to the Downriver region. Not to the machinist outside Cleveland begging for a million bucks in capital just to make a part on this side of the ocean. The capital went to build AI apps and financial firm bullshit in Silicon Valley. The working class got the tariff bill, and the donor class got the tax cuts.

Now these same GOP grifters are watching the towns they hollowed out and acting shocked. Don’t give me that sanctimonious crap. They used the forgotten man as a campaign prop for forty years. Take the goddamn flag pin off before you tell me you care about the factory floor. You left us the rust and kept the receipts.
