I voted for these people because they promised me a country where one job covered the house and the groceries. That was the deal. Plain and simple.

What I got: 33% goddamn inflation on the stuff I put in my kid’s mouth.

That’s the number. Government numbers. The same Washington crew swearing inflation is “transitory,” then “back to target,” is the same crew publishing the 33%. Half-century record. Five times faster than the seven and a half years before 2019. Somebody decided food was going to cost more, and it stuck.

So now I’m the kind of woman who runs a grocery app, a coupon circular, and three stores on rotation, because every working mom I know is doing the same damn dance. We didn’t choose this. They chose it for us.

The grocery chains consolidated. A handful of companies own most of the food. They raised prices. We call it inflation. They call it pricing power. Same thing in a different language. The free market was supposed to keep this from happening. It didn’t. It raised the price of apples and called it discipline.

Family values, my ass. The value you can’t afford to feed your kid is a slogan with a bow on it.

Eat shit, grocery barons. You knew exactly what you were doing.
