The State Department has canceled more than 175,000 visas since Donald Trump returned to office, according to a tally the department released this week that quadruples the pace of revocations in Joe Biden's final year in the White House. The department said the revocations targeted foreign nationals who allegedly broke the terms of their visas, committed crimes, called for violence against Americans, defrauded US citizens, abused the immigration system or endangered national security.
Revocations are separate from deportations, which fall to the Department of Homeland Security — an agency that has reported more than 605,000 removals since Trump took office.
