Firefighters in Rhinebeck, New York, responded Tuesday to assist New York State Police in rescuing a horse that jumped over the chest bar inside a trailer and became stuck on the vehicle’s divider system, the Rhinebeck Fire Department said.

The department said on social media that crews found the horse had jumped the chest bar and become caught in the trailer’s divider system and a tack trunk.

Rescuers worked together with veterinarians from Rhinebeck Equine to lift the horse using specialized rescue equipment and removed part of the trailer’s divider system to free the horse, the department said.

The horse was taken to Buttonwood Farm to be monitored overnight and is expected to make a full recovery, according to the fire department.
