Hyundai has invested hundreds of millions, created 12,000 Georgia jobs

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp will meet Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung in Scotland this week to discuss future investment plans, Kemp’s office said Tuesday.

The meeting will take place during the Genesis Scottish Open, a PGA Tour event co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour, to be held Thursday through Sunday at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. Kemp’s office said the governor will also visit Ireland during the trip and meet with other senior Hyundai Motor Group officials.

Georgia is home to Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, which held its grand opening last year. Kemp’s office said Hyundai has maintained a strong relationship with the state for two decades, investing hundreds of millions of dollars and creating 12,000 jobs in Georgia.

The meeting marks the latest high-level interaction between Kemp and Hyundai leadership. The governor has previously traveled to South Korea to meet with Hyundai and LG officials, most recently in October 2025, months after a federal immigration raid at a Hyundai plant site in Georgia.
