Treasury reports 1.5 million newborns eligible for Trump Account seed funding

President Donald Trump on Wednesday plans to speak at a Georgia high school to promote the Trump Accounts program, the Associated Press reported. The program, established under the One Big Beautiful Bill, provides $1,000 in seed money from the U.S. Treasury for children born during Trump’s second term. The Treasury Department reports 6.5 million families have signed up for the accounts, with about 1.5 million of those eligible for the newborn seed funding.

Some parents say they are still waiting for the $1,000 to arrive in their children’s accounts, according to the AP. Accounts went live on July 4, days before Trump rang the opening bells for both the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq from the Oval Office to mark the program’s first trading day.

Boosters say the program gives more Americans a stake in the stock market and that it could counter the rising popularity of democratic socialists, according to the AP.
