Quarterly sales growth reached 5.8%, surpassing 4.3% analyst forecast
Unilever raised its full-year outlook Tuesday after the consumer goods company reported underlying sales growth of 5.8% in the second quarter, accelerating from 3.1% a year earlier. The result exceeded the 4.3% growth that company-compiled analysts’ estimates had projected.
The company behind Dove soap and other household brands now expects full-year underlying sales growth within its 4% to 6% multi-year guidance range. Unilever had previously said it expected growth at the bottom end of that range.
Unilever also increased its volume growth forecast for the full year to approximately 3%, having previously anticipated at least 2% growth.
The second-quarter sales figures exclude Unilever’s ice-cream business.
