Storm system damages buildings, cuts power to thousands with no deaths reported
Dashcam footage obtained by the BBC captured the moment a tornado tore through parts of eastern Wisconsin, toppling power lines onto a car and providing a firsthand view of the powerful storm system that struck the region on 27 July.
The storm damaged buildings and left thousands of residents without power across the affected area, according to the BBC’s report. Despite the extensive damage to homes and infrastructure, no deaths were reported from the severe weather event.
The dashcam video shows the tornado pulling down power lines directly onto a vehicle, illustrating the storm’s sudden intensity. The footage was included in video coverage published by the BBC on 30 July.
The storm system affected multiple communities in eastern Wisconsin, where downed power lines and structural damage to buildings were among the most significant impacts. Utility crews were expected to work to restore electricity to the thousands of customers who lost service.
