Column asks whether Trump officials are doing their actual jobs
US health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has a new YouTube cooking show called The Real Food Show. The program says the series is intended to help Americans prepare healthy, affordable meals at home. The debut episode features chef and TV personality Andrew Gruel teaching viewers to make crispy salmon cakes served with salad.
In an opinion column published in The Guardian this week, columnist Arwa Mahdawi used the show as a starting point for a broader question: “Are any Trump officials doing their actual jobs?” The column noted that Kennedy also has a new podcast.
Mahdawi wrote that “many Trump officials don’t really want to do the hard work that comes with being a government official; they’d rather play one on TV.” The column cited Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, described as “not the only Trump official who is fond of the cameras,” and said Duffy spent seven months filming a show called The Great American Road Trip.
