Sinaloa grower identified as potential source of salmonella outbreak
Taylor Fresh Foods is pulling jalapeño-containing products from store shelves after Coast Citrus Distributors voluntarily recalled fresh jalapeños over potential salmonella contamination, the company said. The action marks the second product recall involving Taylor Fresh Foods in recent weeks.
The FDA and CDC are working with state and local partners to investigate illnesses in a multistate salmonella outbreak linked to fresh jalapeños supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors, according to the company. Taylor Fresh Foods identified a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, as a supplier to Coast Citrus and as the potential source of the outbreak.
The recall follows a separate action in which Taylor Farms pulled its iceberg lettuce products sourced from central Mexico over a potential link to a multistate cyclospora outbreak that sickened people across the United States. That recall was announced a few weeks before the jalapeño action.
