Blanche acknowledges he ‘will not get every decision right’ in DOJ address
Attorney General Todd Blanche addressed the Justice Department workforce Thursday inside the storied Great Hall at Justice Department headquarters, delivering his first speech since taking the reins of the agency and pledging to lead with integrity.
The address was an effort to reassure lawyers and law enforcement officials following a confirmation battle that exposed deep concerns about the direction of the agency under President Donald Trump. The depleted state of the workforce framed the occasion.
Blanche told the assembled staff he would uphold the rule of law “without fear or favor.” He pledged to welcome their ideas and encourage disagreement, acknowledging he would “not get every decision right.” Without mentioning specific moves that prompted concerns from critics who say he continues to function as Trump’s personal lawyer, Blanche did not address those concerns in his remarks.
