House Ethics Committee opened abuse-allegations probe into Miller last week

The House Majority PAC, a super PAC affiliated with U.S. House Democrats, plans to add approximately $6 million in advertising reservations in the Cleveland, Ohio, area on Friday, the group said in an email obtained by The Associated Press. The added reservations are expected to raise the super PAC’s planned Cleveland-area spending to roughly $7 million.

The spending increase is a response to Republican Rep. Max Miller’s decision to press on with his reelection campaign despite allegations of abuse from his ex-wife, Emily Moreno. Miller has faced calls from members of his own party to step aside.

Miller’s decision to continue also prompted the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the main House Democratic campaign arm, to move Democratic challenger Brian Poindexter onto its list of priority candidates this week.

The House Ethics Committee said last week it had opened an investigation into domestic abuse allegations against Miller. The Ohio congressman also spoke last week with Trump, who did not suggest he exit the race but suggested it would be difficult.
