Fiddelke took over in February as Target outlines new growth chapter
Target reported Wednesday that comparable sales — those coming from stores and digital channels operating for at least 12 months — rose 3.8% in the second quarter, the retailer’s second straight quarter of comparable-sales gains. The retailer also raised its annual profit and sales outlook, citing solid performance during the first half of the year.
The Q2 figure followed a 5.6% comparable-sales jump in the first quarter, which itself followed a 3.8% decline recorded for full-year 2025. A year earlier, the comparable-sales line had dropped 1.9% in the same quarter.
Michael Fiddelke, a 20-year Target veteran who became chief executive in February, called the latest quarter “an important step forward in the plan we laid out earlier this year to open a new chapter of growth for Target.” Target said a merchandising overhaul under Fiddelke’s leadership is attracting more customers and boosting sales throughout its stores.
