Injuries unclear as FAA, NTSB open investigations; governor heads to scene
A Pennsylvania State Police Bell 407 helicopter and a Cessna 150 collided in midair Wednesday evening near Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the Federal Aviation Administration reported. The crash occurred about 110 miles (170 kilometers) northwest of Philadelphia.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the collision, the FAA said. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said he had been briefed and was heading to the scene.
The Bell 407 had two people on board at the time of the crash, according to the FAA. It was not immediately clear how many had been aboard the Cessna 150. The FAA had not said by Wednesday evening whether anyone on either aircraft had been hurt.
Photos and video posted to social media showed the helicopter on its side in a field, with aircraft debris nearby and a line of emergency vehicles visible in the Carlisle area.
