Reunion follows Cohen’s prison time and 2024 testimony
President Donald Trump is set to appear Thursday on the radio program of his former personal attorney Michael Cohen. Cohen confirmed that the president will appear in a taped interview airing on Cohen’s 77 WABC program Thursday evening and Sunday.
Cohen once served as Trump’s personal fixer and was by Trump’s side during his political rise. Cohen boasted he would “take a bullet” for Trump.
The relationship later turned publicly hostile. Cohen called Trump a “Cheeto-dusted cartoon villain” and testified against him both in court and before Congress.
Cohen served prison time for his role in what he said was covering up Trump’s “dirty deeds.”
After their falling-out, Cohen testified in Trump’s 2024 criminal hush-money trial. The Associated Press reported that Cohen’s testimony in that case helped pave the way for Trump’s criminal conviction just as Trump was attempting a political comeback.
The AP report described the apparent truce with Cohen as making him the latest in a long line of Trump loyalists who have had public falling-outs with the president but found themselves back in his good graces. Other recent examples include Elon Musk and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
The AP described the split from Cohen as “perhaps the most personal” of those reconciliations, noting that Cohen had been by Trump’s side during his political rise and had boasted he would take a bullet for Trump before their falling-out.
The taped interview will air on Cohen’s 77 WABC program Thursday evening and Sunday.
