Prosecutors say Denver airport trip violated travel restrictions
Barry Morphew, free on $3 million bond while awaiting trial in his wife Suzanne Morphew’s alleged killing, was arrested Friday and booked into the Boulder County Jail after prosecutors alleged he was involved in a hit-and-run crash with two other vehicles in Denver.
The arrest stems from a crash on Aug. 28 during a trip to Denver International Airport, possibly to pick up his daughter, according to a court filing by District Attorney Anne Kelly.
Under the terms of his bond set last year, Morphew was prohibited from traveling away from his home in southern Colorado except for work and other limited circumstances, the filing said.
“To go to the airport for any purpose other than work constitutes a breach of his bond,” the filing by Kelly read.
Alamosa County District Judge Amanda Hopkins set a hearing for Tuesday to discuss Morphew’s bond, according to online court records.
The $3 million bond was set in connection with the alleged killing of Suzanne Morphew.
