THL bought the chip-automation business and brand for $3 billion in 2022
Brooks Automation Holdings, a semiconductor automation company owned by private-equity firm THL, has confidentially filed a draft registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering, the company said Thursday.
The filing is part of Brooks Automation’s planned return to public markets. THL, formerly known as Thomas H. Lee Partners, owns the Chelmsford, Massachusetts, company.
Brooks Automation said the number of shares it plans to offer and the price range for the proposed offering have not yet been determined. The company said the offering is subject to market conditions.
The SEC’s confidential IPO filing process allows regulators and companies to discuss disclosures as they complete the registration paperwork.
Brooks Automation sold its semiconductor automation business, along with its name and brand, to THL for $3 billion in 2022.
The company’s remaining life-sciences business now operates as Azenta.
