Trump vows Iran ‘never, ever’ will have nuclear weapon
President Donald Trump used a Pentagon ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks to salute U.S. military personnel for 25 years of service in the war on terror, BBC News reported.
“For 25 years, our best and bravest have kept America safe - and today we salute every member of the United States military who served in the war on terror,” Trump said, according to the broadcaster.
BBC News reported that Trump praised members of the military at the event and highlighted how their work is continuing with the war in Iran. The broadcaster titled the segment “In 9/11 remarks, Trump links war with Iran,” framing the address as connecting the 2001 attacks to the conflict with Iran through the broader narrative of the war on terror.
In the same speech, Trump said “the Islamic Republic of Iran will never, ever have a nuclear weapon,” according to BBC News. The statement came during the same Pentagon address that marked the 25th anniversary of the attacks, the broadcaster reported.
The BBC published the report as a video on its news website. The broadcaster’s report included a link directing readers to additional coverage of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
