Turning Point USA reviewing footage, working with law enforcement
The newly unveiled 8-foot statue of Charlie Kirk was found covered in red spray-paint outside the Turning Point USA headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, the organization said. Turning Point USA posted photographs on X showing both the statue and a nearby poster memorial defaced with red paint.
The statue had been installed on September 10 to mark the one-year anniversary of Kirk’s killing. Kirk was shot and killed at a Turning Point USA event in Utah.
In a statement, Turning Point USA said: “We will restore the statue and replace the signs, but we are also reviewing the footage of the incident and are working with law enforcement to identify who did this and hold them accountable.” The organization did not name a suspect or identify any group as responsible in its statement.
Separately, a Utah judge recently ruled that the man accused of fatally shooting Kirk must stand trial for aggravated murder, a felony charge that makes him eligible for the death penalty if convicted.
