Trump canceled Biden’s 18-month Secret Service extension for Harris in August 2025
A trespasser was stopped at former Vice-President Kamala Harris’s Malibu home on Friday night before reaching the residence, according to a Saturday statement from her spokesperson Eduardo Negrón.
“Security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice-President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home,” Negrón said in the statement, which was reported by Politico. He added that Harris and Emhoff “are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly.” Neither Harris nor Emhoff was at the residence at the time.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the home around 10:30 PM Friday, after private security had already stopped the individual. The trespasser was asked to leave, and no arrests were made.

The episode comes amid ongoing questions about Harris’s post-office security arrangements. Vice-presidents in the United States typically receive six months of Secret Service protection after leaving office, while former presidents typically receive protection for life.
Former President Joe Biden extended Harris’s security detail to 18 months before leaving office; that extension was canceled in August 2025 by President Donald Trump.
Harris bought the home, in the Point Dume area of Malibu, for $8.1 million in May.
The purchase prompted speculation she would not seek the presidency again. Point Dume is a coastal enclave long associated with celebrity residents; a Politico article about the purchase described it as a place where people “downshift.”
