Netanyahu calls New York Mayor Mamdani antisemitic at UN

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the UN General Assembly and claimed during what The Guardian described as an “inflammatory address” that Israel’s war in Gaza is the “opposite of a genocide.” Inside the hall, delegates staged what The Guardian characterized as a “mass walkout” as Netanyahu took the stage.

Netanyahu also used the address to label New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani “antisemitic,” according to The Guardian.

Outside the UN, more than 100 people were arrested at large protests against Netanyahu’s appearance, The Guardian reported.

The Guardian named Susan Sarandon, Chelsea Manning and Caleb Hearon as among the “famous faces” detained at the demonstrations.
